What makes the lessons work

A swimmer in a Gator cap swimming butterfly in the indoor pool

Indoor, year round

The pool is heated to 85–90°, an ideal temperature for teaching, and the facility is cleaned daily. Being indoors means no cold, heat or inclement-weather cancellations, and no sunscreen. The room is designed for very low distraction.

Safety first

Instructors are CPR, First Aid, AED and Safe Sport certified. Students learn the basic skills that make them safer in water, and a video and audio feed to the waiting area lets parents observe a lesson clearly and discreetly.

Common questions

Swim lessons in Gainesville, answered

Where can I find swim lessons in Gainesville, FL?
Lessons run year round at an indoor heated pool at 7010 NW 23rd Way, Gainesville, FL 32653, taught by SwimTec. The water is held at 85–90°, so lessons are never canceled for cold, heat or weather.
Do you teach toddler and baby swim lessons?
Yes. The parent-and-child program starts at six months, toddler lessons run from two to four years, and there are separate groups for kids, teens and adults. Every age group is listed with its ages above.
Are lessons one-on-one or in a group?
Both private and semi-private lessons are available. In a private lesson the instructor works at your child’s pace and moves to the next skill only when they are ready.
Can adults and teenagers learn to swim here?
Yes. There are lessons for teens from thirteen and for adults from eighteen up. Adults learning to swim for the first time are a normal part of the program, not an exception.
Can parents watch the lesson?
Yes. A video and audio feed to the waiting area lets parents watch a lesson clearly without being on the pool deck, and the room itself is built for very low distraction.
Are the instructors certified?
Instructors are CPR, First Aid, AED and Safe Sport certified, and follow a progressive teaching method designed to reduce fear of the water. Se habla Español.
Is this the same as Gator Water Polo?
Swim lessons are run by SwimTec at their indoor pool on NW 23rd Way. Gator Water Polo trains at NE Pool, 1100 NE 14th Street, a different facility. Learning to swim here is the usual route into youth water polo later.
